Launching a new book: “Embraces, Vincent”

I am so pleased to announce the publication of this new book by my friend Vincent Williams (1933-2017). I had the pleasure and honor of editing it, together with Vincent’s daughter, Alexina Thorén Williams (who initiated and led the project).

Purchase the book on Amazon.com or Amazon.se

Vincent was a truly unique, wonderful person and a gifted artist who also wrote fantastic short texts and poems, usually in letters to family and friends. Some of this writing, gathered by Alexina, is presented between these book covers, together with photos of his artwork and an introduction to Vincent’s extraordinary life, in both Swedish and English. (Like me, Vincent was an American who later settled in Sweden.)

The book arrives just in time for an exhibition of Vincent’s work in his hometown of Burgsvik on the island of Gotland, opening 1 July at Hantverkshuset (trans: “House of Craftwork”).

Please check it out and share it. Vincent left us some years ago, but he deserves to be remembered — and his delightful, playful-yet-serious use of language, expressing both the everyday and the profound, deserves to be enjoyed. (The spelling of “reflection” as “reflex ion” is no misprint.)

PS: I have no financial interest in this book. It was a volunteer project — more accurately (and poetically) a labor of love, in honor of my friend.
